Vineyards

The Casa da Torre Winery produces wine using grapes from the family's three estates: Quinta do CruzeiroQuinta da Casa da Torre and Quinta da Senra
These estates all lie within the Vinho Verde region, in the Ave sub-region, and cultivate grapes using an integrated protection method, which ensures the environment is preserved.

Quinta do Cruzeiro has an area of 9 hectares and grows the following white grape varieties: 65% Loureiro, 20% Chardonnay and 15% Old vines with mixed traditional varieties. Cultivation began in the early 1990s.
The granitic soils form gentle slopes (2 to 5% gradient), are predominately south facing and sit at an altitude of 250 metres.
The main rootstock is 196-17 and a simple upright cordon training system is used.

The first vineyards were planted in the five hectares at Quinta da Casa da Torre in early 1980, growing varieties typical to the region and with a training system little used today: Cruzeta. In 2007 it was entirely replanted with white varieties comprising 30% Loureiro, 35% Alvarinho, 30% Sauvignon Blanc and 5% Petit Manseng.

Quinta da Senra boasts a total of 7 hectares of vineyards, which were planted at the end of the 1990s and lay scattered around small plots that form an amphitheatre exposed to the sun. Once again, traditional Vinho Verde region varieties are grown, but always with a bit of an international slant. White grape varieties: 65% Loureiro and 35% Arinto.
